late 70's maybe early 80's female american maybe canadian punk/alternative solo artist with a song about a world suffering from ecological/ technological disaster.

i don't think it was lena lovich nor was the song in the year 2525 but was along those lines

anyone have any idea?

pretty sure she was not british but we are talking nearly 40 years ago i think she was moderately famous at the time 2 or 3 top 40 hits and was definitely not mainstream
