Second land line into an apartment.
Discussion
Hi folks,
Oddball question here and hopefully can get some help.
Is it possible to add a second land line to a moden(ish) apartment ? Obviously this is very easy on a house as a new drop cable is connected to the house and a new mater socket terminates it.
However in a flat that already has one master socket but and If i wanted another on a separate line I cannot see how it can be done as all the wiring is already done and hidden in the trunking etc. There is no option to "piggy back" off the original wiring.
I am not going mad thinking it is not possible?
Cheers

Depends.
A) Your landlord / lease agreement
B) Who provides the infrastructure to your building e.g. Openreach or another provider
C) If it is viable for openreach or another provider to run the cabling
Openreach probably will charge you for coming to have a look to determine if it is viable.
How about looking at getting a 4G Three wireless broadband instead? (depending on availiability of mobile signal). Unless you require a constant dedicated speed (TBH gamiing over the three network is fine).

Cable coming in is usually a 2 pair, possible even a 5 pair so already has the capacity for a second line. Internal wiring is probably more of a challenge unless the second line is right beside the first.
Embrace the future and go VOIP, probably cheaper and easier to install although that would depend on your bandwidth. It's what you're going to end up using in the not too distant future anyway.
