Upgrade for Suzuki Swift Sport to Unusual Saloon?
Discussion
having picked up a bargain on a zc32s Susuki swift sport a few month back, Ive really not gelled with the car at all like i thought i would.
lovely on the twisties but really have to ring it out to get anywhere. I really miss the raw turbo pull of my265hp TT which is in storage and love and driving is only a small commute with the odd 4hr motorway drive.
looking for
-Unusual options would be useful
-More power
-Can be smaller or larger no size constraints but not after a hatchback.
-Comfish
-5-7k
Cars ive been looking at
-Lexus IS250
-Toyota Aristo 300
-GS300
-SLK350
-SL500
-CL55
-Subaru Legacy Outback 2.5
I would love to be able to tinker with the car too, the TT kept me busy most evenings and i loved it.
Open to any and all recommendations and user experience on any of the above.

Mazda 6 MPS? Nice sleeper, plenty of power upgrades which you should be able to do yourself.

Ive always had a soft spot for the Infiniti and Skyline 350 but need to have a good look at the potential issues. Im sure there arent meany but i would want to the prepare and know what to look for!
CLK 55 is a good mercedes option! but only CAT C from my searches including the above in this price range

its probably between a legacy and the skyline 350/G35
whilst not as 'unusual' as stuff here or indeed what . you may be looking for, I'd take a look at a Skoda Octavia VRS
Still have a bit of geeky cool and have a tunable golf gti turbo petrol for a good fun recipe.
Being VAG based means lots of parts readily available and steady running and reliability factors.

Had a mate who had one and it lived on the path in bits for more time than it was on the road. Such a shame!
I know what you mean, it's a funny car which isn't quite sure what it wants to be. Mine was very reliable except for the suspension, the bushes kept going so started replacing with poly ones. SAAB 9-3 2.8 V6 as mentioned is worth a look. Not great in stock form but with a remap the in gear acceleration is brutal. Leaves a 330d for dead on the motorway, you won't stop grinning until you look at the fuel gauge.

The G37/GT350 really don't have any issues but you'll have to check the 350's have been rust proofed as this could turn into a big issue.American 300c and the cts never have done it for me, had a test drive in the 300c and it was very wallowy and for the engine it really was struggling.

I didn't realise it was a Cat C, the CTS is basically an E Class with all the running gear from one.

Its a cracking car, Just really sucks when a ecoboost fiesta rips past you on sliproads and such... SAAB 9-3 2.8 V6 as mentioned is worth a look. Isnt the saab v6 based on the Vectra? Same engine? I guess it would be pretty cheap for parts!

Yeah that's what started to annoy me with the MPS because in stock form the big 3.0d cars could take you at twice the fuel efficiency! It really needs to be tuned.Isnt the saab v6 based on the Vectra? Same engine? I guess it would be pretty cheap for parts!
The SAAB was based on the Vectra but SAAB heavily reworked it, hence it never making any money. The 2.8 engine was developed by Holden in Australia (also owned by GM) with a lot of SAAB influence then it went to Sweden for their turbocharging speciality.
If I had a driveway I'd probably get the 2.8 convertible for summer fun, effortless styling as well.
