Hi all moving house this week so will have more space for a bigger tv. Can anyone recommend me something. Used mostly for films and xbox and youtube. Hoping to be around the 6-700 mark.

Thanks all

I'm not an expert so won't point you to specific models, but I'd just like to recommend to get an OLED TV if you can find one within your budget.
The colour quality is on another level compared to regular LED. (for reference, we have a Philips 55POS9002 which also sports Ambilight etc)

If you can justify the budget creep, then OLED is the better bet (but it does mean an outlay of £1K, instead of your budget)

I recently moved house and got a new 55 inch TV, and because of all the other expenses at the time, I didn't want to pay that much. I got a good deal on an LG LED which for most purposes is brilliant. However, whenever I watch anything with dark scenes in it, you really notice the local dimming in effect. Most LED TVs are lit from the edge of the screen, and local dimming switches off or dims the backlight where the parts of the scene are in darkness. It's supposed to improve the detail and contrast, which is does to an extent, however you get noticable vertical bright bands in the picture, which niggles me everytime I watch a dark scene.

You can turn the local dimming off, but it does lose some of the detail in the picture.

Agreed with OLED. I paid I think 899 for a 55" OLED B8 earlier this year, which is an older model but I don't think the newer model has turned the dial a huge amount, and the LG OLED's are said to be industry leading. If you can find one of those, would highly recommend.

I echo the advice to get an OLED. Maybe one of last year's LG models will come in price range soon.

I think Richer Sounds had a voucher code around a while ago that brought the price down, I can’t see anything under about £1200 at the moment though. Amazon have The C8 for £1300 and Costco sometimes have deals.

That’s a good shout actually thumbup

I’m not massively bothered about having the latest and greatest tv with a gazillion things on it that I’ll never use.

From Richer Sounds, though I just checked and it was £989 not £899, I mis-remembered. There was a £150 off voucher.

A Panasonic OLED is the best one.

Samsung and LG cheaper alternatives but not quite as good.

Samsung have QLED which is not the same as OLED, cheaper and really just a LED when you scratch beneath the surface.

I thought LG made all OLED panels and other manufacturers just used the LG panels?
