...and on how many cars?

For some sad reason I like number plates. (I'm the OP of the Real Good Number plate thread that's been running for well over a decade).

Have you had a plate for yonks? Have you had a plate that's carried over on several cars?

Always as old as the car. Except for the Volvo 740GL which I drove over from Göteborg on export plates. There was no Øresund Bridge then.
I don’t get personalised plates. I understand rare plates as an investment.

Ten years plus and it goes straight on every car.

Maybe 8 cars over that period?

It is quirky, so could be on the bad plate thread, but spacing is correct and adds to the quirkiness.

Have half a dozen plates, some five figure value ones...however the one that's been on our primary car and has been on all 14 primary cars since 1999 has a complete worthless monetary value but sentimentality priceless.

I've got three plates and I purchased them between 1994 and 1998. (A 2x3, a 3x3 and a word/name - although currently on the 2x3 and 3x3 are in use at the moment).

They've been on numerous things over the years and I enjoy having them as I feel that when fitted they make my car my car.

In Canada the ownership of a place is easily transferred from car to car and once you buy your plate ( $200) there is no annual fee if it is not on a car.

You cannot sell plates separately to the car, so there is no amazing value attached to them. Personal plates are anything you want with 8 letters or numbers. Usual prohibition on offensive, porn etc.

I have about a dozen plates , oldest from 2002 newest from 2019.

One since 1999 and the other since 2004. The former has been on 4 cars, including my current one and the latter has been on 2 bikes and is currently on retention.

Had mines 17 years was a gift from my parents for my 18th birthday. It’s been on 5 cars. It great but a pain in the ass when I go to a different dealer than the one I bought from as it usually brings up an older vehicle.

I’ve currently got 2 plates.

First one has been on all my cars since I passed my test so about 13 years and then I managed to acquire a dateless combination with my birth year and initials in a recent DVLA auction so I will be using this one going forward smile

My mum passed mine on to me about fifteen ago.

She inherited it in the early 1950s from my grandfather who may or may not have pulled a few strings to originally acquire it for free in the 1930s. My son is next in the que and when he's done with it my grandson gets hold. smile

About 30 years for one of my plates. I have lost track of the number of cars I have had it on.

Others bought along the way as the number of cars owned has increased.
