A couple of recent posts about the glorious Vanquish with it`s near perfect Gaydon era interior... oh alright, here`s a link to a quick vid, plunge in at 15 seconds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gX3SxFQO80&li...

This got me thinking...
There`s danger in this admittedly.

When browsing the second hand Astons for no other reason than curiosity or the lust of a philanderer outside of a strip club, there are some fantastic specimens to observe, but then there`s some where creative spec license is probably not to the taste of the majority.
I am the last one to pour scorn on the choice of others when it comes to which things I personally do not like, but I`d be interested to know what would make a 2nd hand car a no-go for a prospective purchaser, and I`m meaning in the appearance department, colours inside and out, personalised items etc, not gearboxes or quantity of cylinders.

I will get the ball rolling with chopped carbon fibre. It`s been around a while, and it has yet had the opportunity to grow on me. I see a 2nd hand car with this, and regardless of it`s general appearance I am immediately thinking "nope!" The local dealers here in Switzerland go mad for the stuff for their showroom cars, weirdly.
If you like it you`re not a freak, just someone whose opinion differs to mine, so lets not get shouty here. My Vantage is Tungsten with an all black interior, the "re-sale" choice. It`s unoffensive but overall a bit tame to what I would spec if i was in a position to do so. I am currently drawn to a Yellow Tang V12V, I like Cinnabar and Volcano, I think an Aston can look awesome in so many combinations, but... over to you.

Not a fan of chopped carbon, but easily changed so not a show stopper. I do like tasteful two tone interiors since they make a statement that an AM interior is not run of the mill. But sometimes things go horribly wrong, particularly when combined with the exterior color.

Here's a very nice MF Vanquish Volante with a blue top...looks tasty to me!

But then you see this...

Interestingly, my other half likes it, but then again she likes me (there's simply no accounting for taste...).

I cannot unsee that interior. That looks like a haemorrhoid...

Chopped Carbon Fiber looks too much like Formica floor covering.

Yes, I`d say that interior would keep the vast majority away!

I think chopped CF must be right up there on the marmite scale. Clearly lots of people love it to spec it. But I’d rather have traditional CF

Piano black interiors also seem divisive. I like them but I know loads who hate it

I like admiring others’ bold choices.
I recently saw a Huracan spider with lots of chopped carbon fibre on the exterior (the rear wing in particular) and my initial thought was that the car must’ve got dusty and then caught in a rain shower - you know when you get those
splodges. It was replicated for lots of the interior too. I’ve seen it on Aston interiors too. Interesting, but it’s a no from me.
But then I’ve got yellow brake callipers and not everyone likes those either!
Vive le difference!

Piano black is very much like black cars for me, I think it looks good but I know the cleaning is endless...

There is a lovely Vanquish coupe which has been for sale for 12 months in Sydney - because of the purple interior I suspect

I suppose when purchasing a £100k car, if everything else is good, negotiating a £5k discount to re trim it is not out of the question.

I purchased the perfect BMW X5 a few years ago but it had poodle st brown leather. I convinced myself I would grow to like it, but I didn't. I ended up selling it simply for that reason and bought another with the "safe" 1/2 black leather and Alcantara and I still have it 6 years on.

The chopped carbon fibre isn't my favourite but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me - which is odd because I find "conventional" carbon fibre trim bits on both the interior and exterior of a car to be loathsome.

I prefer a lighter colour interior but the lightness has to be brought by some contrast rather than a block colour and only if subtle.

In the last of the interior shots showing the console, the color looks more like Iron Ore to me. No matter, I like the combo with Lightning Silver.

I think it looks OKish but it's not just the cleaning that is the problem with Piano Black. It scratches very easily and refections off it are horrendous which can be a real problem when driving in bright sunshine. I would love to get rid of my Piano Black centre plate but I don't think I'm prepared to pay the several thousand pound bill AML want for that job. Anyone know of an alternative supplier of CF ones for a manual Vantage? No wraps for me before anyone suggests it BTW.

True, but given the whole dash and interior is purple it would be a major refit

If it hangs around for another 12 months I may be interested

Any carbon looks good imho , where as the Piano Black would be a non starter for me.
