Looking for something to do with my two youngest who are 12 & 16 - within a couple of hours of Reading (idealy) and good value.....don't mind paying, but hate pore value and keep seeing stuff like 30 mins quad biking for £50 each (It's made worse that I ride off roads bikes and have crossed Africa solo for the price some of these outfits want for an hour in a gokart!! (Iknow, I know...insurance, etc)

So....before I strap them, one at a time, on the back of my Husqvarna and head off into the wilderness......any one done something that blew a teenagers mind (no, not going to a brothel) and was value for money too?

Brighton zip wire?

https://brightonzip.com/zip-wire/

2 hours from Reading.....just, and you could make a weekend out of it.

Depends what they're in to I guess. I took my son on a Dads and Lads Tank driving experience at Armourgeddon in Leics.

I got to drive the tank, he got to fire the gun which is converted into a massive paintball gun. They do tank paintball battles and loads of other stuff there.

Good value? Was about £100 I think - I thought that was reasonable for what you are doing.

Paintball. There are probably loads around you.

Indoor climbing might be a good one - go along to Reading Climbing Centre on a Saturday afternoon and you can see if their parties are any good.

A couple of things I have done with my kids that went down very well. They are not what you would call dirt cheap, but I thought both were excellent value for money.

Indoor Motorcross in Devon - http://www.wheeldontwo.co.uk/ though best to call them as the website is not that great. Probably more like 3 hours from Reading.

Indoor sky-diving in Basingstoke - https://www.iflyworld.co.uk/ . I seem to recall this was available much reduced via Tesco clubcard vouchers at the time, not sure if still the case.

Martin.

When I was 12 (1994) my dad bought a project car for us (he gave me the choice between a classic mini, classic beetle and an SJ410)

I went for the SJ - we spent weekends and evening stripping it and refurbing it and rebuilding it. Was a great time and it was ultimately my first car which was ace.

I was about to recommend the Under 17 Car Club, but someone's already done it!

Your 16 year old might find one of the Pathfinder courses more appropriate (under17driver.co.uk)
