My wife's helmet was stolen at the weekend (secured to the bike with a lock that clearly wasn't good enough), and as we were out she had to buy a replacement locally at short notice. She couldn't find one she really liked so settled on a glittery black Arai, but she's now having second thoughts as it's not as nice as her old one (a Shark S700 with a "spring" motif I think).

Is there anywhere I could source some decals to make the helmet look like it had a cool design from the start? I've not found anything so far so I thought I'd ask here. Seems a bit of a waste of cash to just shop around and buy another helmet, as I'm not sure we'd be able to sell her Arai now...

There are literally millions of stickers and decals on eBay, surely you must be able to find something on there?

Single stickers and decals yes, something that will end up looking something like a factory design (and that isn't logos / skulls / lightning bolts) I'm finding more difficult.

Ooooooh, interesting. I was always advised that stickers (or paint) on a helmet risked weakening it and making it more likely to break up in an accident. I have therefore never put anything on any of mine.

Is such an activity safe? Have I been believing an old wives' tale for the last 2 years?

Have it wrapped in a design of your choosing, cheaper than a paint job, and as exclusive as she likes.

This can be the case with helmets with a polycarbonate shell which are usually cheaper helmets. Anything fibreglass/carbon fibre is fine to put stickers on.

Have fun putting a sticker designed for a flat(ish) surface onto a helmet that curves in all directions. Needs to be designed to fit those curves or else it will look at best stretched or worst creased at the edges if it cant confirm.

Interesting, thanks very much.
