My wipers are not working properly - when I looked I noticed 2 small parts were missing, not the kind of thing the local spares emporium will have. And I cannot find a mini in the local old type scrapyard - take it off yourself.

Has anyone got a spare large nut and washer that holds the wiper spindle assembly in place through the scuttle? If so please contact me.

I am sure it is a Mini / Marina BL type. Missing is a thin nut and a large washer.

I should have noticed it was missing when I was painting - blind or what? Last night in the mist it popped the wiper arm off - fortunately the arm lay on the bonnet and did not even scratch the new paint.

Gaz,

I'm in Cornwall - it is only a tiny part so I will email you my address - if you get the chance and find one I'll refund whatever it costs you.

Loads of kids round here use mini s for mini rods but of course they just chuck the wiper mechanisms away.

I know Stafford Vehicle Components do most bits for the "Mini" wiper system.
Their web site is www.s-v-c.co.uk

When I was a lad we used to strip the motors and wheelboxes out of Morris Oxfords and Austin Cambridges being used for banger racing and put them on the back windows of Vivas and suchlike. Not many of any of those around now...

The most annoying thing is during the winter 2 of my friends boys stripped minis down for Grass racing - of course they binned the wiper mechanism - I had one of them crawling all through the junk outside his garage but no luck.

I shall just keep on haunting the local scrapyard.

c'est la vie
