Intermittent wiper failure

I have a 1997 4.0 Chim, the wipers when using the intermittent switch move halfway across to the drivers side then stop,yet if you move the switch to constant position there is no problem.
I have looked in the bible and checked the relay connection in the passenger footwell and this seems fine, any other suggestions?
