Have a look at the Nokia Android One offerings as well, they will get more regular OS/Security updates than a lot of these cheaper phones.

I'll 3rd the Moto G7 suggestion. Even though I would go for the normal or plus version myself even the cheaper G7 Play is a surprisingly good phone, my kids are delighted with theirs.

Think the Nokia 7.1 is the equivalent to the G7. The new 7.2 is due soon but will probably be around £300

Ive got a xiaomi Pocophone F1. Fastest phone out there sub 400-500 and can be had for 250 or less, no bloatware as well.

I looked at these,I think it lacks NFC.i wear a sensor on my arm to monitor blood glucose,so it was a no for me.
The budget phones are generally pretty good for the money. Of course a premium phone would be preferable but too rich for me

Looks pretty good, I went had a look and what about this model for value, as I don't know what much to make a comparison but need it to support banking apps? If someone can help it would be appreciated

I got my Pixel 3a in the Google sale for just over your budget and it's a good league ahead of the motos frequently touted.

I've got a redmi 5 dual SIM, and it supports nationwide, tsb and tide. They're the only banking apps I use.

Had a moto g7 power for several months, good phone, respect for optimising the thing to what people want rather that the "this is how it is" offerings of most .

If she likes Samsung then how about a Galaxy A20e (£169)

It's £250, dual sim but only 64Gb. Just ordered one.
