As the starter of many DD threads, I have been asked to kick this one off for JAYB, who ‘we’ sadly lost this month.

It is traditional for DDs to be held on the last Thursday of the month, but as we all get older, this does not give us much time to organise ourselves in September, so October it is smile

Plus, being held on halloween would have appealed to JAYB's sense of humour laugh

Venue - www.dirtydicks.co.uk
Time – 6pm (or earlier) til late

For those that are tempted to join us for the first time, from about 6pm the last Thursday of the month a few of us used to be generally found either hanging out smoking in the Alleyway down the side of Dirty Dicks or more likely in the upstairs bar somewhere as close as possible to the bar. If you look for a mötley crüe of fools that look most unlikely to all know each other, let alone be buying each other drinks - that is probably us.

To further assist your hunt, look for a large group of blokes & a female if you are early; if you are late you need a really large group of blokes & a couple of females; we range from Giant to Dwarf both bald and long haired, we have handsome cads and ugly gentlemen, complete lunatics, and... me. If in doubt, look for bottles of Smirnoff Ice with straws, but do NOT ask about them!!

Sadly, on this occasion, no salmon trousers, unless someone can be persuaded!

I am also contractually obliged to say that "We are the friendliest and most welcoming bunch you would ever wish to meet" (or avoid at all costs). One of these statements is probably true.

This is a place where lasting friends are made; forum fallouts forgotten, everyone is pleased to see you smile

Lightweights need to be able to spot and avoid the hardened drinkers, who they are though remains a mystery biglaugh

Please feel free to register your interest in attending by joining your name to the list that will appear below; please be aware that this list will be amended frequently, and updated with frivolous excuses as to why people have chickened out nearer the time biggrin
Please note that in signing your name to the list you accept that anything that happens to you as a result of your attendance is entirely your own fault; and that you are happy for the piss to be taken out of you in the name of extreme banter

We would advise that you book the Friday off work, to quote the man himself

I’ll be there! Only been to one DD about 9 years ago and can’t think of a better reason to attend other than to raise a glass and bid a heartfelt farewell to the incomparable JaYB.

I'd like to attend but I need to try and sort out "budget" accommodation for the the night - it's not practical to try and train down and back for an evening event as well "Norfolk and trains don't run past 10pm"

I think you'll find it's traditional to have a night's rest in the cells courtesy of the local constabulary. wink

Cheap as well. biggrin

How cheap do you want to go, there's a well reviewed hostel a few hundred yards away that's currently £28 per bed for that night.

I'm looking North of the river (with parking) so I can drive down late afternoon after work and tube in an out in the evening so great idea on the Hostel but travalodge type accomodation at Max £50 a night inc breakfast equates to the cut of my cloth

Normally London City, Wembly or Heathrow are good value cos of airport /location

Sorted - Wembley Travalodge - £44 inc Breakfast and wifi (Parking £8 extra which takes me over budget but breakfast is all you can eat can't turn that down)

What’s going on with the funeral? Or is that just a close friends and family thing?
