Somewhere decent for myself and a couple of mates this weekend. No specific budget but it must be casual (jeans, not suited up). Any recommendations guys?

Flat iron is our go to place. The one on curtain road Shoreditch is the best of them.

Macellaio have a few places around. Italian owned, managed and staffed so standards are good. All will do a great Fassona steak with a good Italian wine list. Deep fried custard for dessert too. MY personal preference is Battersea but all are good although Kensington does get rather busy.

Mash Steak in Soho, assuming that fits the "central" brief.

I'd echo this. I've been to quite a few London steak places and most of the ones mentioned above, but Goodman's is my go to. I usually go to the one on Maddox St.

If you ask, they're also happy to take you down to the meat fridge and into the kitchen.

Goodmans is definitely the most special, but with prices to match.
Blacklock are my go-to for great steak at good value. Order off the board, and they do £5 old fashioneds

I've been to most of the Hawksmoors now and they are great. My cousin kept telling me Goodman was better, and I confess after a visit I probably agree. Both really good though, and certainly the type of informal place you are looking for. Flat Iron a decent option if you can't make the first twe.

I'd prefer Hawksmoor over Goodman, based on my visits. But also have a look at MASH - Very good the last time I was there.
