Move SSD between two OEM PCs
Discussion
I need to upgrade my PC from an old HP to new Optiplex.
I've seen a newish Optiplex without a hard drive which previously had an OEM HD in it, but has been removed for security.
Can I do a straight install of my HP SSD? Will there be an issue with licencing even thou both PCs are OEM?
(My old HP has a number of applications for which I no longer have the media or keys and need to keep, so I can't do a wipe and fresh copy install on new PC).
Thanks in advance

I suspect a bigger issue than a licence will be it booting ...
If you moved the drive to absolutely identicle hardware it would be fine, different hardware, especially motherboard and processor will be a no go.
Regarding the license, if it's an omn install of Windows, you cannot legally transfer this to another machine.

Thanks for the response, it wouldn't have an issue booting, driver management in windows is pretty good. Doing a bit of research it looks like it may work with acronis which can remove the hardware abstraction layer, so would just be a case of re-registering windows -which might be the sticky point.
