Agree about that, but I rather like the wheels.And they have a sort of period style about them. Reminiscent of Wolfrace slots.

Given the wheels and tyres I just wonder if it actually has an XK engine fitted?

Put it in racing livery and you probably wouldn’t think twice. The headlights do look an odd shape though unless it’s just the angle of the picture.

Why not? It is only copying the BBC Modsport championship cars of the 70s. This is John Burbidge on his way to winning the championship. The other photos are of his trophy room and when we had a beer or three with John after he had ended his chemo treatment after learning it was not working, so we had a last hoolie together. Two weeks later we were at his funeral.

What series was it to start with? The bonnet is series III. The windscreen looks raked like a LWB, but the doors and roof line seem to be SWB. I've always felt that the 'optimum' E-type would be a mix of the various series, so I can't criticise this one - apart from the chrome, the leaper, the sunroof and the headlamps.

I tried to look it up on DVLA, but don't seem to be able to read the registration number. What I though it was came up as a 2005 Rover.

Short doors so S1 or 2, bonnet looks to be S3 (scoop gives it away) with arch extensions and with the new nascelle kits which are available for about £1,000, but I can't quite make out if there are two or three wipers. If 3 a S1 2+2 with rear modified to look like a coupé. Very much a bitsa.

Having blown up the photo on max brightness, I take back what I wrote about the screen, it's S1 SWB and probably has the correct 3 wipers.

Already been done years ago. Take a fibreglass lightweight Realm D-type and quietly drop in a 4 litre straight six XJ 300 supercharged motor. Here it is at Prescott hill climb 1996.

At first glance the car in the op looked like a 260z based kit replica. I've come to my senses now, obviously. It's clearly based on a Toyota 2000GT!
