My car has a heater and fan but I've realised the fan is pushing the air down onto my ankle rather than through the 2 adjustable vents. I presume that 1 or 2 ducting pipes have detached?

Does anyone know how easy it might be to fix (other than the obvious bit of needing to sit myself upside down in one of the seats biggrin )?

Ducting pipes?

What ducting pipes?

No idea! I just presume there is some sort of plumbing to the 2 vents given that the fan blows air on my ankle and nothing goes through the vents.
The car is a ‘96 if that makes any difference...

Is 96 a fresh air heater? My 99 had two vents above the transmission cover which could be opened or shut like a traditional car heater vent. The ones to the foot wells were always open.

An update to my original post – I had a look under the dash and clearly I had not realised how compact the whole vent/heater setup is (certainly no ducting pipes!).

As far as I can tell the ‘footwell vents’ are just big triangular gaps in the bottom of the heater/vent box (the box is rectangular and has no bottom – it sits on the transmission tunnel, which becomes narrower than the vent box, leaving a gap on either side). I am going to blank these gaps off, which should stop my left leg getting roasted and push more air through the 2 circular vents.
