I’m doing a drive soon and while I don’t need (nor will have the battery life) to track the whole thing with Strava, I’d like people to be able to see where I am.

Is there a way to share my location on a public-facing mapping webpage, based on e.g. GPS or the mobile masts I’m connected to?

You can share your location on google maps, but i think you need location and data switched on. Of course the obvious solution to your point about poor battery life is to plug it into your cars 12v or get a powerbank.

All people or just select people? You can do location sharing in Whatsapp for example!

Life 360 was excellent on a recent road trip across different OS

Thanks, will have a look. Aiming for the least hassle for the viewers so WhatsApp probably wouldn't suit. Doesn't matter if it's available to anyone.

This is a good answer. I've used it a bit when at events to keep an eye on my son if we get split up or need to meet up.

ViewRanger Buddy Beacon works well for this

Glimpse looks perfect, thank you. Any idea what it's like on battery life? We'll be doing some cycling too. Apparently if you tag on a public map it only connects to GPS if someone is watching you on the website which sounds ideal.

Pretty sure Waze & Google Maps can do this.

Waze certainly does it. You share your drive from within the app and the people you share it with get a link to a website where they can see where you are as you drive.

GoogleMaps does this.

You select 'location sharing' and then whom you wish to share with.

Couldn't be simpler.

Hmm, it does, and copying the link to clipboard means I can send it/post it wherever, originally I thought everyone needed a Gmail account.

Going to try Glimpse on a couple of bike trips, see what it does to the battery, if not will use Google Maps.

Life360 users , how often are you finding it's updating the location ?

and is there a way to do this more frequently ?

My sons appears to be only updating every 30 minutes or so .. is this normal ?

I have not altered any settings and have it running on 2x android and 2x iPhone.

Never had a problem with it updating, for example my lad was riding home from his mates house, I checked how far away he was and I could watch him moving in pretty much real time on the cycle path so it seems to update pretty quickly.

Could be a phone setting like background data or possibly poor signal.

Absolutely brilliant app been using it for years and all free.

Agreed. I don't think it's a setting. I do find sometime it takes a while to update, but my signal at work is terrible. Same on the train home where I go through rural area's.

My wife uses it to time our evening meal, she can see when I've left work, and can check that our kids are on the way back from Uni.

I used it recently when my son ended up staying out all night and had no idea where he was. I checked on Life360 and drove straight to him smile
