I mean your wife. Telling someone else's wife is a different, although possibly not unrelated, issue.

No but only because I'm about 2 months away from finalising our divorce.
Hypothetical question but what would happen if I won, can you delay receiving it so a soon to be divorced partner wouldn't benefit.
In ordinary circumstances if happily married why wouldn't you?

A final divorce settlement requires that you disclose all assets. If there is something you didn't disclose then the settlement can be overturned.

Why wouldn't I? A wandering heart, eyes or hand?

I think you are safe Antspants. A mate won a million just after the divorce process was well on the way and it wasn't a "jointly earned asset" so was his alone. (Simple divorce though, no kids, she was buying him out the house).

You have quite a long time to go and collect your winnings, simply do it after the divorce is complete and come off social media. Job jobbed.

You have 180 days to make your Lotto claim. Leave the ticket stuck to the fridge door until the divorce is done.

When you claim and when you win are two different things. Guess which is relevant in a divorce hearing.

In your scenario you haven't claimed so you have had no chance to relocate your funds.

Which means there's nothing to alert the ex that you've won.

I think it will be kind of difficult for her not to have a clue when I suggest we move into the large country estate I have just purchased along with the Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and holiday home in the Caribbean etc.......

Pretending to go to work each day could become quite tedious.

I'd maybe send her a text - after a while - from somewhere exotic.

I would. It may be unfashionable here, but I'm rather fond of my wife.

Given that my wife and I both dream of giving up work and retiring together to travel the world it would be a bit odd not to tell her.

Not only would I tell her, I'd hand it over to her to sort out the investments etc. She's great at all that stuff.

Sending her to work every day while I stay at home and spend, spend, spend could be a bit tricky too.
