Hi Folks

I own a 2008 model Mark 4 Seat Ibiza and the air filter needs changing. I have no idea of how to do it and there is no mention of it in the manual. I have also looked on Youtube but no success.

Can someone kindly advice?

Thank you.

According to my 30 second Google search, it's set in the large plastic engine cover; pull that off, detach hose, unscrew filter housing.

Maybe take it to a garage instead if you're not comfortable working under the bonnet.

I have never ever changed an air filter. Thanks to the prevailing westerlies, a rainy climate and no dirt roads, the UK air is pretty clean and dust free. Every 20,000 miles or so I take out the air filter, bend it to open up the pleats and clean it with a small stiff paint brush - and replace it. Even less frequently for the pollen filter - got its first clean in eighteen years and 130,000 miles last year. It wasn't particularly dirty, and then only in the area of maximum air flow. Anyway, having a pollen filter is a bit of an absurdity - do you put one on your face when you get out of the car?

And yet I've seen them black after 25k
And my car is covered in dust the day after I've washed just been sat on the driveway
But you say there little dust in the UK
