Console yourself with this thought.

If 'Iconic' falls out of use, Mike Brewer will get the sack.

Everything is also 'stunning'

When was the last time you were literally stunned by anything?

To be fair stunning doesn't mean you have been stunned in a sense of the word like the crew of the startship enterprise hitting you with their phasers set to stun. Stunning as a dictionary definition does mean something which is 'extremely impressive or attractive'

I suppose anything can be an icon, but too many things are called iconic when they are literally just someone getting a bit too over excited laugh

Instead of this...

Iconic (adj)

very famous or popular, especially being considered to represent particular opinions or a particular time:

why not?

Seminal (adj)

containing important new ideas and having a great influence on later work:

The irony is that song's iconic.

Or, as Thomas Cook customers might say about their ATOL protected repatriation, a free ride when you've already paid.

A great many things on the internet will make me gasp.
