991 One - Newbie Assistance
Discussion
Hi All
Ive reached the point where im considering a used 991. Im really looking for guidance as to entry point. Clearly I expect to lose money as with any purchase but keen to minimise if this is feasible with correct timing.
Is there a sweet spot for entry ie buy 3 years old, 5 years etc. Im coming from a Boxster (Just agreed to sell to member of family) which Ive had for 13 years and loved. Id be looking to keep the 9991 for ten years or so.
I havent set a budget but would be happy going upto 60k ish.
Thanks in advance

Nice move, I think you will love the 991 and you have a good budget which isn’t that far away from gen-2’s by the time we are into next year!
Obviously the earlier cars will not depreciate as much and the gen-1 also has the last of the naturally aspirated tags, I’d avoid the earliest pre Nov 12 when the PCM and Bluetooth were updated and DAB introduced. A nice Carrera S would be ideal, PDK works brilliantly with the high revving flat six and if you seek out a few other key options (Bose, Sports exhaust and possibly the chrono, plus maybe heated seats and cruise.- but the S is also great out the box) you can’t go wrong really. You also have the choice of cab’ or coupe, do try both, many write off the cabs, but they are very good these days. Just ensure a professional inspection snd invest in a good guide
Definitive Guide and you are away.
This is just a very quick snapshot hope it helps. You will get lots of great advice here, best of luck with your search.
