Hi all,

We have a longish road trip coming up later this year, and in a vain effort to appease our two young children, we are considering a twin-screen movie setup for the rear seats. In the past this would automatically default the research to dual-screen DVD players, but I am wondering whether two identical tablet computers could somehow be configured to play one movie at the same time? Even better if the audio could then be channeled through the car speakers via bluetooth. That way we could fit headrest mounts to the units, but also use them as tablets for the kids when we are out and about.

Does anyone have any recommendations or advice for this? Is it even possible?

All help much appreciated!

Kind regards,
F23

What's wrong with headphones for the kids so you don't have to endure whatever film it is they're watching? And then they just just press 'play' more or less simultaneously and away you go?

Why? Our kids have Fire Kids tablets and headphones, connected to a WIFI hotspot, keeps them quiet for long trips and they can watch/play whatever they want. We did used to have 2 DVD screens connected so they played the same DVD however the arguments quickly killed that, "I want to watch Toy Story 3", "I want to watch Frozen" etc.

They've both just turned two-years-old (twins)...the headphones would stay on for about six seconds before being launched!

Screen mirror tablet to tablet:

I'd use the master tablet to stream audio to the bluetooth receiver.

I’ve got a portable media streamer that I used when the kids were younger. Load up films onto the sd card and there’s an app you load onto the tablets and you can stream the same content or the kids can choose their own content

Am travelling at the moment so I don’t have the specs but I don’t use it any more so if you want it, it’s all yours

I tried this method when my daughter was too young to reach the screen.

It simply wouldn't stream the video from one tablet to the other without horrendous stuttering and frame loss.

Gave up and just set a video playlist running every time we stopped.

Headfoams are great kid friendly Bluetooth headphones, for when they're a little older. We have hours of peaceful bliss on long journeys these days.

My pleasure. Will be back home On Friday and will send you the specs / pics etc

No need for beer tokens. Just stick a couple of quid in a charity tin of your choice. Will be in touch
