993TT - BMC panel filter - where?
Discussion
There are a good few people on Rennlist who have fairly well modded 993TT's, and a couple of them have even done before/after dyno runs for several of their mods.
Example - the Gruppe M airbox lost power on an otherwise almost standard set up (still on K16's, standard intercooler, etc) compared with the standard airbox and filter. A cone filter induction kit lost a little mid range but gained a tiny bit of top end. The BMC panel filter is a direct replacement for the standard air filter, but keeps the air just as clean with less restriction, purely on the basis that its construction gives the air more surface to pass through. Result on that particular engine was no noticeable difference until about 4k, followed by a steady climb resulting in an extra 24 flywheel horsepower.
Now i'm not expecting 24 horsepower, but it's only 55 quid after all.
Here begins the slippery slope though. I am keeping my eyes peeled for 100 cells next...
