Back in the mid 70's my ex FiL taught me the game, and showed me a copy of a theorectical four handed game with A+C and B+D playing as pairs

In It A+C had 'dream hands' that couled with the turn over card
B+D had hands that totalled 19!!

With the pegging IIRC on the first deal A+C scored 81 points and B+D nil
Anyone out there know of this and can reca; what cards were deal.

I found the original copy FiL gave me but in the intervenig years it has faded beyond reading.
Now hsving found it i am really curious as to what it said so i can stick it onto the PC

Thanks

Hmmm.

It's a bit of a length of this bit of string question.

Lots of possible permutations.

And one for his knob....

I can't answer the question sadly. It's my favourite card game since I started playing at 17 but I only played it 1 vs 1, rather than in a pair

I need to re-read the rules.

29 is the best hand - 3x 5s and a jack which is the same suit at the turned over card - which is a 5.

28 is far more common. 4x5 and a 10/royal.

Does that help? Afraid the question wasn't clear to me.

it is close ,but here is another explanation Four people are playing doubles brag

A+C are partners.B+D are partners

As with four handed cribbage. each are dealt 5 cards, each player discards one to become player A's crib,Pegging takes place in order of A,B,C and D IIRC correctly A+C get all the points B+D score 0

Hands are then checked B+D score 0

With A+C hands plus the crib and the pegging points they total about 81 or so points on that first deal

Does anyone know of this theorectical hand, or recreate it?

I can’t believe I have to ask... but pegging?
(I could google it, but would no doubt get sidetracked.. and I’m not asking the missus, not after what happened last time)

Pegging?
It's an old cavalry sport that dates back to the middle ages:

The cavalryman would gallop at speed at night through an enemy encampment, knocking out tent pegs with the tip of his lance, causing the tents to collapse, causing confusion and mayhem, whereupon following horsemen would decimate the helpless would-be combatants.
