I started my car selling career with Fiat back in 1992, and have always had a bit of an affinity with the brand because of that. Even when I was with other manufactures, I personally bought an Uno, Punto, Tipo and Coupe Turbo 20v. Recently I’ve had a 500 Abarth which I loved.

My latest car, however (an Alfa Romeo GT) hasn’t really made me fall in love, and I’m thinking of returning to a 500, albeit not an Abarth.

Those early years with me selling cars with the FIRE engines (Fully Integrated Robotised Engine - still remember my training!) made me think that despite their faults, Fiat know hw to make a decent engine. Now, I’ve driven the early Twin Air in a MiTo but not a 500. This is the engine that interests me for two reasons; character and environment.

Does anyone on here have on of the earlier ones, maybe with a few miles that can give some feedback on reliability and anything to look out for please?

Unless anyone has either an Uno Turbo i.e or Tipo 16v 5 door they want me to relieve them of for less than £3k??? #stunnedsilence

Don't own one but those engines are pretty quirky and fun, I'm not sure you'll save the environment though if you are an enthusiastic driver it'll be barely any more economical than an Abarth 595 competizione
