I wonder if anyone can guide me. I have a peojuet 3008 and about 2 months ago had my full service and MOT done with a cost of over 600 pounds as I needed some extra work done as well. They identified an oil leak and change of water pump which need to be done under warranty. Last week I took the car in for this work under warranty to be done. I picked up the car and brought it home 5 mile drive. The next time I turned the car on the emission diagnosis warring light came on and have told the garage and they are now wanting the car back to do diagnosis and want another 160 pounds for doing the diagnosis. How should I respond to this claim from them and is it realistic that after them doing some non-related work the emission light comes on? Has anyone had any similar experiences.

Most likely coincidence, after all it's a Peugeot (or peojuet if you prefer) so things failing regularly is pretty much expected behaviour.

Oil gotten into the exhaust and burning off? could give one of the sensors a out of scope reading.

It obviously depends on what's wrong with it. Does it drive fine, or is it in limp home mode? Get a bluetooth obd dongle and download Torque or even better FAP (Amazon app-store only) and check what codes have been stored.

OP, you asked another question in March.

You got lots of advice but never came back to the thread to acknowledge any replies or even thank anyone.

Just saying.

Hi , I am very grateful for all the advice but am new to the forum so do not know the protocol. the car runs fine and does not seem to have any problem. I will wait to see what they come back with and hope it is oil having got in exhaust and being burnt off.

apparently the issue finally was caused by the glow-plug bolt being loose. and at no cost was remedied, probably because they might not have tightened it themselves when they were working on the engine last week
