I want o go fo a holiday, september time to Japan. Tokyo is a must for a few days as I have a friend to visit there but Im open to suggestions for the rest.
Bullet train, Osaka, Himeji Castle etc are all on my list.
definately go to Kyoto, the old city is gorgeous! bullet train takes a short time to get there, 2 birds with one stone etc!
Kamakura Budda is definately worth seeing.
Depending on when you go theres some awesome festivals to see too.
I went to a really interesting little island off the coast too...sort of like a buddist/shinto St Michaels Mount, that was excellent.
Had a victorial botanical garden right in the middle of it too built by an excentric English bloke
Akihabara in Tokyo is a must (for the electronic geeks) and Asaksa Temple is excellent too.
Yokota US airbase is a great place to stay, but you might have to be married to my missus for that
Recommend you look at Turkish Airlines for the flight (they have a good one with a 2 day stopover in Instanbul if you want it)
