Tailored Suit

I'm thinking of treating myself to a properly tailored suit just because I've never had one before.

I'm willing to spend about £400, possibly a bit more.

Can anyone recommend a tailors in the London Liverpool Street area?

What do you mean by tailored? You won't get made to measure generally for less than £500 or bespoke for less than £1K.

Gresham Blake (based in Brighton but have fitting rooms near Jermyn street) will knock up made for measure for about 500 notes. Lovely suits, am having one made at the moment - very good prices.

What's the difff between m2m and bespoke?

Have had quite few m2ms made up - wouuld never again even consider for 1 minute anything o-t-p. Mainly that's because I'm an odd shape.

I'll be going m2m for now, not feeling quite saucy enough for a bespoke at this stage.

If you're in the Liverpool Street area there's a place called Mangas just off London Wall, can't remeber the road, its the one with the Scottish Pound on the corner.
They do made to measure, for around your budget, lots of cloths to choose from and options on the cut and style of the suit as well.
I've had a couple of decent suits and m2m shirts from there.

Clifton Suits in Bristol (specifically, in Clifton) do a m2m service which I have found excellent. Several fittings too to ensure everything is spot on. Cost about £600 last time I went, but that largely dependent on what cloth you fancy.

I had my m2m suit sorted from a co based in Shoreditch. I won't mention the Co. name on the forum but if you want more details, drop me a mail. Made minor tweaks such that it was formal enough (for office if required) but still casual/trendy for evenings/weddings.

Had an extra pair of trousers made and total cost ~ £850. Lots of cash it seems, but worth every penny in my eyes.

ge2, try the plave next to the savoy tailors guild near liverpool st station. Small place kind of opposite thomas pink, cant remember the name.

Just been down there for a quick look and ended up, choosing my fabric and stuff getting measured up and purchasing. Thought the prices he was showing me were for the jacket only so even came in under budget. Which was nice

Well I paid the deposit by card, but there was no mention of how the balance was to be settled

My father was in the trade for about 20yrs (before passing away) He told me a M2M suit costs about £90-100 with basic material.

You pay the extra for A)Better cloth/etc. B) Designers commisson & C) Retail/Salespersons 'cut'.

Amazing how much people charge really.
