So I've finally got a modern, sensible car that doesn't really need any work doing and I don't want to modify it, however this bores me...

Thinking of getting a cheap project car, something from the 90s, no Clios or Saxos from 2001 please.
Cheap to buy most importantly (sub £1.5k ideally), doesn't need to be especially fast especially as I can make a slow car faster with some modifying.

I'm struggling for ideas, thought of maybe an old turd of a Rover, could be fun to make quicker and are suitably 90's/not common but they're a bit thin on the ground.

Seriously any 90's uncommon, but still possible to find parts for, garbage considered.

Gen6 Celica ? I had one as a track car but blew the engine. I bought too cheap, it had been sat for 18 months which did it no good. A decent 2.0 can be had for £700 and would make a great base, they are usually very reliable

I would go 90s Jap every time... indeed I did, bought a rare JDM 1996 coupe for £800 and got thoroughly carried away.

What about a Toyota Paseo? Or a Levin BZ-R if you can find one.

If you advent done so already, check out the retro rides forum for inspiration- quite probably a few funky leftfield choices in there.

Not 90's but some other options:

At this price point there are a few cars I'd look at:

Focus ST 170

Celica T Sport

GTI 180

Or seeing as you were looking at a T Sport Corolla a leftfield option but a decent warm hatch is the 1.6T Astra
