I've had a call from an unknown mobile number, because I'm waiting on a call from a new contact, I answered it. The caller said "I have a missed call from you" I replied "you haven’t had a call from me", hung up and blocked the number. I guess this must be a scam but can’t figure out what they are up to. It was a UK Vodafone number which I don’t get charged for answering. I didn’t call the number so can’t be charged for calling Nigeria!! Anybody got a clue?

I assumed they hit the "return call" button. Can't see them manually entering the number instead.

Caller ID can be set pretty easily, and without checks on whether or not you actually "own" the number being used. So it could be that someone is using your mobile number as the CLID on their outbound calls.

I have two mobiles, I often have a missed call on one and ring back from the other. Just block and don’t worry

I doubt it's personal, just entering some digits when setting the CLI and they happen to have been your mobile number.

Have you been calling people and scamming them? No? Then that means your number won't be on any known blocklists and so the scammers can use your number to evade them when dialling fresh victims.
