Yikes. Apparently late for work, he passed an unmarked police car at 132 mph, speed limit on the bridge is 50 mph.

Reported for summons, bets on the likely outcome?

I used to drive this bridge every day for work, that sort of speed strikes me as nuts given the location and road.

Totally insane speed on that section in the dry, never mind in the wet.

My wife is working in hull on a contract at the moment. I go up and visit her most weekends. That is bloody insane. The lanes are really narrow. I hope he likes walking for a while.

Suspended sentence and a long ban would be my layman guess. Depends on what he was charged with of course.

Maybe a stupid question but - what is the 132mph GPS on the screen measuring? That is clocking the speeding drivers car (from inside the unmarked car), or is that how fast the unmarked car is traveling following him?

Silly boy, but locking up people for this is counter productive.

No idea what he’ll get. fked, most likely.

Would the officer really have driven at 132 mph in torrential rain? Police training does not prevent aquaplaning. Perhaps weather is being exaggerated a little.

The car's location at the time of the alleged offence would have placed it in the middle of the Humber River, the Humber has no speed limit at that point of the river.

Case dismissed. smile

Err, lots? Even 18 years ago as a 20 year old I had a car that could do more than that. Plenty of cars under £2k that would fit the bill.

Deserves a lengthy ban and a high fine as a minimum, good effort though.

If charged with speeding then there is absolutely no chance of a prison sentence.

He didn’t crash, he didn’t cause anyone else to crash. Therefore his driving can’t be considered dangerous, speed is just an arbitrary figure that we should ignore.

I say good luck to him. Any punishment is unfair, a murderer once got away with it. How can punishing him be fair?

Am I doing this right?.

Indeed, I had a car at that age which was capable of that speed. My current car is a fairly unassuming Merc C320 Cdi, electronicaly limited to 155.

Solid effort.
