And no, "use Firefox, dawg" is not the solution I want.

I use Chrome and although it apparently has a 'delete cookies on exit' option, it doesn't work - well documented here.

There are some cookies that I need to keep as they are linked to secure sessions which are a royal pain in the arse to set up again if the cookie gets deleted so the blanket 'delete all cookies' option is no use to me and Chrome's 'allow' list doesn't work either.

Are there any lightweight cookie managers/extensions that you can recommend me? Needs to be intuitive and easy to use, not something designed for coder techie types.

Thanks smile .

Use DuckDuckGo browser and search engine. Google can't really be trusted since they removed 'Do no evil' from their mission statement. laugh

Try Click and Clean. Easy to add cookies to a whitelist, and clears on exit.

It's not the cookies for me, it's the interminable requests to accept one every time you visit a once in a lifetime website whilst browsing that annoys me!

Just give me your cookies without asking, do your worst and I can clear the unwanted ones out once in a while anyway.

Indeed. You need to accept them in order to read the content on most sites these days as they block it. Previously before this cookie nonsense appeared you just got them anyway and - as you say - periodically cleared them out. I'd still rather not have them sitting about longer than 'necessary', hence looking for a simple manager/auto-deleter that works. I don't mind the ones to save log-ins on your every day sites like PH forums for example, as these serve a useful purpose and save you a bit of time, but you seem to get dumped with a load of them for ad tracking just from viewing a simple page on any site as well, often with meaningless names so you can't easily tell which ones are just for saving your log-in.

@Jackal, thanks, I shall take a look momemtarily.

I have two such extensions added to the top right of chrome:
'EditThisCookie' and 'Clear Cookie & Reload' .
Both simple to use - just click and the cookies for that site are gone, and the first has some more advanced options should you desire. They work very well.

Ccleaner might be what you need. In Options/cookies, there's an option to keep cookies for sits you use cookies to log on . it's on options/cookies. e.g. you'd move anything Pistonheads into the right hand column, but leave those cookies you want deleted on the right. Then anytime you do a Ccleaner clean all those cookies from sites you had to allow will be deleted.

Use Firefox cat?

Google is a company that makes its money from tracking and advertising, if you use its browser then it will always be a struggle.
