£30k, fun, sounds good BUT is easy to move on in 6-12 months

Looking for a bit of advice,

Want something that fits the following criteria;
-Fun
-No more than £30k
- Sounds good, no diesel or turbo nonsense, supercharged is fine
- Most importantly easy to move on in 6 to 12 months time without losing a ton of money

Cannot stress the last point enough, I don't want to end up buying a car for £30k and then I end up not being able to move it on 6-12 months without losing £10k

For example I've heard Jag XKR's are a nightmare to move on, any truth to this?

You won't lose £10k on this, if that is the most important criteria. Anything else (new or classic) maybe a gamble over the next 6 -12 months.

Everything exotic seems to be selling slowly at the moment though. Not a great market right now...

From what I understand it's hard to shift cars at that price point privately. If this is your biggest point which I totally get, you'll probably want something that:

A) Isn't likely to throw horrendous bills, so people are more comfortable without a warranty
B) Is attractive to a wealthy market and by that, I mean not a typical PCP car more of a cash buyer

You could get a feel for trade in prices if a dealer trade in is the only option. Some will be more attractive than others.

The main mechanicals are. But they also have some common issues which could start eating the slush fund (water in the rear lights for one).

Great cars, and they do have something very special about them - although I don't think I'd use the term "fun" when describing them.

Yes heard about that, second hand light clusters are cheaper though. The only big ticket item I've heard about is the clutch, with prices varying from £2-3k. But if the OP is prepared to gamble a little bit, which is always a consideration for any £30k used car he could do much worse. An M3 or whatever won't be any cheaper to run than the baby Aston. A bad year in even a T5 Transporter could eclipse any bill it would throw. I know this only too well!

Bought mine 2 years ago, sold it 12 months later for a profit, and i paid over the odds for it in the first place.
