Hi folks

We’ve just had sky installed for both broadband and tv.

The Sky Q box keeps losing the signal to the router and the blue light on the Sky Q box keeps going out.

For example, I can watch something on Netflix, press the home button to come back to the home screen, choose Netflix again and immediately get the error message that says “you haven’t got an internet connection”.

Can anyone recommend a fix?!?

As above, get them back.

Plus they do a "WiFi Guarantee: With Sky Broadband Boost we'll guarantee WiFi in every room of your home or your money back"

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-fibre-speed-...

If you have bought Sky Broadband Essential or Sky Broadband Superfast.

I fixed mine by wiring the house. Not recommended if you don't want disruption.

Ask for a new box - I had similar issues three times.

In the end I cancelled Sky Q. Between the bad run of technical issues with the boxes, the terrible hard drive whine and eventually realising we didn’t use it that much, it was a no brainier.

Unfortunately based on my experience, you’ve got one problem and two ways of fixing it:
The problem is Sky. You’re better off with a network made up of knotted wet string. I had 9 months, loads of engineers visits, hours of calls and internet ’chats’ and still no reliable service of a distinctly average connection speed causing loads of tv drop-outs.
The best solution If possible is Virgin for tv, broadband and phone if needed.
Virgin wasn’t available for me so my fix is to keep Sky Q with mini boxes and use a full broadband network from BT - same copper from Openreach and same 65Mb speed but reliable.
Good luck

Thanks folks. Sky bband and TV engineers are coming on Tuesday and will, politely, be told to fix the f’in thing.

In the meantime, a couple of questions:

1: can you use a BT Home Hub 5 as the router for the Sky Broadband?

2: Is it possible to use power line adapters to get the Ethernet from the hub to the Sky Q box?

1: Yes, but you need to use the sky thing as a modem. Sky didn't like other equipment being used, so made it impossible, unless Q is different to previous versions.

2: Yes.

My SkyQ works fine with Virgin router. Now stable, using hardwire connection for me.
Sky fitted extender for me & the 3 boxes have been reliable since
Sky will test the mesh network using their ipad app. I’d avoid powerline as will bring own issues. I have a feeling that Sky may have disabled that now anyway from SkyQ
