Found myself in Richmond today for a few hours and had a nice lunch with my wife by the river and a pleasant walk along the banks.

I’ve not really been there before but what a lovely leafy area. Full of under the arches cafes and restaurants and theatres and nice well dressed people out running and riding bikes along the river with their children, successful and content people out rowing and enjoying themselves. (Obviously remainers)

You can even enjoy watching the beautiful aircraft approaching Heathrow, loads of different airlines from all over the world.

Do many PHers live here? Seems a nice mix of everything.

Did you intend to needlessly politicize your thread?

Yes Richmond is nice, I was born there but my parents couldnt afford Richmond AND children. They made the wrong choice and moved.

Shame. I expected this thread to be discussing the much nicer and original
Richmond, North Yorkshire.

Never heard of it?

Is it leafy and pleasant too?

Looked it up on wiki and apparently,

“Richmond is the most duplicated UK placename, with 56 occurrences worldwide”

I don't live a million miles from Richmond. It's a nice place - some good pubs too!

I went to the white cross. Seemed nice. On the next table was a couple with a lovely dog.

I know it’s not for everyone but I quite like dogs in pubs.

I do socialise there a fair bit but the people do seem to have a cork up their arses, their self-entitlement almost creates a forcefield around the town.

I grew up near there, (Hampton) and went to Richmond College, it is indeed a lovely area, and Richmond Park is very pretty with loads of space. The river is great and yes the White Cross too.

Loads of good pubs and pretty girls back then.

Nice place, but house prices just went crazy in the early 90’s

Home to the world's greatest rock guitarist , songwriter and lyricist. He has the house on the top of Richmond Hill. Wth a fabulous view straight down the river, formerly owned by John Mills iirc.

Do you think Pete Townsend smiles to himself every time he hears the opening credits to the CSI shows played on 5USA CBS Drama etc

Aren’t they Irish?

I didn’t see any sausage factory today, but I only saw the bit by the river TBH.

My thoughts as well.

Wouldn't eat them normally but after a few beers they are lush when done on the BBQ.
