Took delivery of my new Porsche 992 Carrera S a couple of weeks back. Really wanted to get away from the dark coloured wheels, angry look of my last cars so decided on Gentian Blue metallic with the standard silver wheels. Also avoided privacy glass, and added the chrome strip around the windows. I've tried to give it a classic, understated look and I think it works well.
I'm only 500 miles in so far but it is the most amazing car I've ever owned. I also have a 2013 Boxster S which is a completely different drive (but also amazing in it's own right). The 992 is comfortable - even on massive alloys - and so, so fast when you decide to give it some! I'm still taking it fairly easy and so haven't even revved it out yet. Really loving the sunroof too which I nearly didn't go for but has been open nearly every time I've driven the car so far.
I bought it from Porsche Cambridge who were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Also went for Topaz full PPF which will ensure it stays looking like new for a good few years. This car is definitely a keeper (like my Boxster).
Options? Well I went for:-
Gentian Blue Metallic
Black leather interior (Crayon stitching)
Trim strips in a high-gloss finish
Electric folding exterior mirrors including courtesy lighting
Sports exhaust system
Sport Chrono Package incl. mode switch
20/21-inch Carrera S wheels
Wheel centres with full-colour Porsche Crest
LED main headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus)
Automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor
ParkAssist (front and rear) including reversing camera
Light design package
Sports seats Plus (4-way electric)
Guards Red seat belts
Rev counter dial face in guards red
Sport Chrono stopwatch in guards red
Porsche Crest embossed on headrests
Heated GT sports steering wheel Alcantara®
Storage compartment lid in Alcantara® with ‘PORSCHE’ logo
Glass Sunroof
BOSE
.....which was my attempt at keeping it fairly restrained!
The only annoyance is the reversing camera! What were Porsche thinking? The image quality is pretty much useless and if I were speccing the car again would leave this option out.
This is a daily driver for me to replace my Mercedes E220d. I do fairly low miles and normally do the school run and then head into the office. Kids fit in the back fine (at the moment) so it is actually turning out to be a fairly practical car too.
Here's some pictures for your enjoyment, hope you like them. Apologies for the spoiler up position I'd just washed the car ;-)

Much to my wife's amusement she happened to see the new Bad Boys 3 trailer which pretty much features my exact spec (wrong wheels, plus 4S not 2S):-

Good choice on colour! I.ve had mine almost 2 months , and 6,500km in, I'm extremely pleased. The stop/start annoys me as the engine stops with the car still rolling forward albeit very slowly. However, I found out the pother day that switching to Sport mode disables it. Result.
It needs to be seriously wet for the wet mode suggestion to come up. Now, if my eyesight is good enough to drive the car, it's good enough to spot when it's raining and/or the road is wet. You also get a stupid message about the need to adapt your driving style. It's nanny state gone bonkers - or maybe it's the possibility of being sued for gazillions by some stupid Yank who tries to defy the laws of physics.
Apart from those minor gripes the car is really very very good.

Could not agree more. This wet mode thingy is beyond me. What about taking your eyes off your smartphone and looking at the road?It needs to be seriously wet for the wet mode suggestion to come up. Yes, I noticed that with the stop / start. You feel the steering getting really heavy as it cuts the engine while you are still moving! My wifes Cayenne does the same too so it must be intended behaviour. That's pretty much the first button I press to turn off when I get in the car

Congratulations! Can you discuss your considerations in not having Rear steering. Thx!
Budget I think, and the fact that the steering is still going to be great without it. Would have put ceramics and a few other bits and bobs on it too but you've got to stop somwehere otherwise it gets a bit out of hand....!cervezaman said:

My Cayenne also cuts the engine whilst car is still rolling a little, worse on the first stop of the day!. As left foot braker I like to manage both pedals at once so its frustrating when engine cuts off. I’d fine it easier to live with if the vehicle had to be stationary for a second or so before the cutout. Yes, I noticed that with the stop / start. Is there a button you can push as so far I'm having to use the touch screen to deactivate it?
Sadly not. I thought I may have been able to program the spare hotkey to do it but no luck. So touchscreen or use the mode selector dial on the steering wheel and set it to Sports mode!Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
