So almost a year to
the day after taking her off the road, she finally got her new MOT earlier this week following a body off and engine rebuild.

Managed to get out for a little drive this afternoon which was just great, albeit sticking to 3000 rpm and mixed driving to run the engine in....only about 975 of the 1000 miles to go before it goes back to power 🤔. Just hoping theres some more good weather to come so I can get them done quickly.

So I have a few snags that I’ve not had a go at sorting yet.

Somehow following MOT the drivers seatbelt inertia reel spring cover came off and the spring followed. Does anyone know what car they are off? Looks to be a PITA to undo the
bolt under as well...think it’s 16mm.

The windscreen wipers only work on fast....park switch maybe or ribbon?

The PCB for the heat and AC switch has an issue. AC button switches on and off ok, heater button switches on but not off...neither is operating the fan? It was fine before I swapped the fascia for stainless and snipped the wires and re-soldered to the on/off buttons. 🤨

All help / ideas gratefully received.

I’d check the connector is plugged in properly, at the back of the HVAC dials.

Also, the same at the controller. It’s been a while since I looked at the controller, but it may be possible to put the connectors in the wrong slots. Worth looking at, if somebody’s had the car apart.

Will have a look at the obvious stuff first, wipers always been like this before I did the body off....just not a concern before with everything else.

The wiper button obviously works so the logic is in the wiper control box? Park switch just returns the blades to the park position, they don't control the speed etc.

As above, the park switch performs the parking and nothing else

Do the wipers park?

The wipers do not park....strategic timing is required.

So far from a few avenues I’ve got it could be the motor, connections or the control box....so that just about covers most of the bases. smile

Park switch could be a secondary issue.

Mechanical is my comfort zone.....automotive electrics I’m not clued up enough to test and fault find currently so I bow down to the superior knowledge on here for that.

Ok

Red/Green From wiper control unit to wiper motor is positive when 2nd speed is switched on

What you need to know is if

Blue/Green From wiper control unit to wiper motor is positive when 1st speed is switched on

If Blue/Green is positive when 1st speed is switched on, there is a problem with the wiper motor plug where it connects to the park switch or the motor is faulty

Should the motor prove to be faulty, there is a chance that the 1st speed brush has worn away

Post back If Blue/Green Isn't positive when 1st speed is switched on
