Anyone else do the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride yesterday? I gather quite a few of the English rides were cancelled/postponed due to the bad weather. We were lucky in Fife though inasmuch as it stayed dry all day so I took the 1947 bike out. But cold as hell with ‘dapper’ gear on, even with thermals underneath.

Falkland Palace was a great place to start...and a very nice John Player Special Norton. I always lusted after one of these in the mid 70s when I just had an old Commando fastback.

A stop at Anstruther and the lifeboat station for a warm up and a wee donation to them. And a very nice R90S. ...and of course the old Chief - at 72 years old the oldest bike there.

And then on to St Andrews for a few ‘laps’ with well-dressed blokes on (mostly) old bikes. Sadly no pics here as we were riding. But ended up at the St Andrews brewery.

Yours truly...

It was maybe a 100 mile round trip for the old bike, with some motorways thrown in just to get there and back quickly. It’s capable of 70mph plus, but feels much happier at 65...as was I with an open face helmet. Ran well though smile.

And if anyone want to donate to prostate cancer and men’s health charities then here’s a link smile

Nice looking 400-4 between the BM and the Indian.
