Not surprised. The 718 is seriously quick. We tested a 718S as replacement for the 981S VLN race car. The race prepped 718S is about as quick as the 981GT4CS race car - and not yet fully set-up. The torque makes a massive difference

He's a good driver no doubt.
Bet there was less tyre squeal and general feeling of driving the car at 99.9% in the GT3 though, nice to have a little margin for error
