Positive will be Brown or Red @ switch

Positive to Whites gives ignition

Positive to White/Red gives crank

In a word yes. Not sure what model you have as early, middle and later ignition barrels have different ignition wiring. If you expose the wires you should be able to jump the power to the ignition live wire and also then jump the starter motor circuit. If you can power the ignition then you can also put a lead from starter solenoid spade connection direct to battery just to turn the starter, as I've been doing on the SEAC. But be careful.

Crank in later cars is black and blue off barrel which then changes to red and white on loom.

hi,that would be moi - in my defence not sure if the MOT tester had caused the metallurgic failure earlier- as keys left in ignition and set me up good and proper? but he made amends getting it started and greatfully the car and me home.

Ha ha he probably superglued it together and left it for you....

Reminds me of the idiot village cobbler here who also cut keys (as you do).

We went in there with a key that had almost snapped, and with care, he could have cut a replica, job done. So on arrival we said "be careful, it's got a crack" and he bent it in half, snapped it, and said "oh yeah..." and then "I can't do anything with that now...".

hi,i have sort of redeamed myself .i had a couple of goes with a hair grip then paper clip at trying to flick out the broken bit out of the lock as on utube. Then i thought id remove barrel/lock assembly and try on the bench.Someone must have beat me to it or one of the screws had a security head on it? anyway had to drill off the head of the screw and take the offending part to the bench.Using a flat blade watchmakers screwdriver down the key slot and voila out she flicked|! smashing.Luckily i have a spare key and trying it the barrel turns and releases ok.Anyone Know Thread size for the barrel/lock to coloumn Screws x2 - imperial? thanks dave

Well done....It does happen to be 5/16 UNC (the LR part is M8) https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-152597 but you will need to crop two threads off (or that is what I did recently) because it will bottom out. A@

Before you crop threads off, put a mating nut on the screw, then after the cropping, remove the nut, and it will clean up the threads.

Ah..six of my TVR's have them, so parting off in a lathe and putting them back into zinc plating, is the norm here.

LOL...If Dave is stuck for a couple (as in the Triumph world has no stock, or they are selling the M8 version in error!) , I am happy to post a couple out...as long they are replaced and I am not out of pocket on postage . A@

Stripped down and re-keyed a lock barrel for the Taimar/early wedge late column this morning (I had no key for it anyway and if I wrote it off it did not matter) BUT happy days, I just need to fettle new brasses (from the Ford door lock blanks I had water jet cut a while ago) for two positions out of ten and I have get a couple of nice keys made and it is good to be re-assembled
