After nearly 5 months without a phone line or broadband BT claim they can install fibre to my property, as I understand they'll install the fibre box on the wall then connect to their smarthub, do I actually need this? I ask as I've got 4 Google WiFi mesh points hooked up to a mobile BB router, can I just plus the wall box into the Google Wifi and that'll work?

It depends really.

What type of fibre are you being supplied with? Some fibre connections from BT will use a built in modem in the BT Hub. Others will use an external modem from Openreach.

Also depends on whether its BT Business or BT Home as they use different equipment.

If you get an Openreach modem you can use this with any router. The router simply needs to be configured to work with a pppoe connection.

If you get a BT hub only with a built in modem you could set the BT Hub to work in bridge mode which turns it into a modem and then this can again work with any router as long as that router is configured accordingly.

Sounds like you would probably just use the BT Hub supplied and run through the google mesh wifi setup again to get them connected to your BT hub.
