Hi

Going to look at this - I knew they rusted at door bottoms and around handles and mirrors, but never seen it here before - is this common ?

Yes, it’s common, but to be clear, it’s not rust. It’s due to imperfections under the paint, but if you were to rub it down you wouldn’t see any rust. Depending on where you are looking to buy from, they may well (should) rectify before you take it away. I’d be cloned t have a real good look around the car, specifically mirror arms, door extremities and rear wheel arches, as my early cars all suffered with this at some stage.

I had exactly the same problem with my 2013 v8 vantage in the same places on the paintwork and the wing mirrors. Aston Martin in Reading fixed it for me under the 10 year body warranty. didn't cost me anything. They recognized that it is a common problem.

My 2012 car had a few spots on the passenger door like that. All sorted now, FOC under warranty by Notts AM, and delivered back fully valeted. Great service and nice to know AM are sorting out these issues under the 10yr anti corrosion warranty.

I've not seen that area before on the door but my 2014MY has:
1. Around door handle and lock
2. Top front edge of door by chrome trim (this area has now come back twice furious )
3. Front corners of bonnet which I think is a less well known one and can be hidden with the bonnet closed.

As has been said, AML are taking more responsibility for this than they were 5 years ago and all mine is soon going to be rectified FOC through AM Nottingham. I'm pushing for a new door this time because the one area has bubbled three times but they are going to see what they find when they strip it down and make the decision then.

It looks like it has been repainted already. Looking at the picture there seems to be a line on the edge.
