I just cannot bring myself to fork out mega money for a second (fun) car so have decided a bike is the way to go.

I got rid of my last bike, a 650 SuperMoto, a few years back and now want something for shortish (hour or two max) rides either on my own or with Mrs G.

I'm not a speed freak so am thinking naked and I'm really liking the look of the scrambler type bikes. The Ducati Scrambler in some guise looks great and I will try to get a test ride in the near future but wondered if anybody could suggest anything else I should be looking at?

Just to add, I'm 5'8 so do not want anything with a high seat.

The 2016 on SV650 (and indeed before if you are on a very tight budget) are great bikes.

They are £5.5k ish brand new.

Yamaha MT09 is a fun bike... may need to sortout the suspension a little bit depending on weight/riding style...

SuperDuke is a blast! Or if less power a 790 Duke.

Duke’s are definitely on the list and the MT Yamaha now. Thanks so far.

I’m happy to go to Ducati Scrambler prices if necessary BUT always happy to spend less.

I'm looking to change my fleet around a bit and I want bike for fun but which can also cover some distance if necessary. I'm fairly set on a Kawa Z900RS which might suit?

Street / speed triple is another one worth checking out then.

I've found the 800 scramblers to be leisurely but can be good fun on twisty b roads. Not sure how they are with a pillion though so take the wife when you test ride!

not sure about pillion, but most fun you can have, its super small and light, and plenty fast enough.

Both very fun bikes. Having owned a Duke, I can say without a doubt get an MT though from those two.

I'm 5ft 8", the Scrambler will be crap for a pillion and they are ok, but thats all, very much style over substance, see if there is a Hyperstrada 821 out there, much better proposition and way more fun when she isn't on the back and much nicer for her when she is, my wife loved the Hyper and she is 6ft .....

Agree a bit with the above as an owner of a scrambler.

I do love it though and it looks great (classic with spokes). Got some off road potential too. It's more about cruising than going places
