Quickest purchase of car?
Discussion
Went to showroom yesterday having previously told salesman my trade in, paramaters for new car, any offers on the table please advise before, any rearrangements please advise, funding etc and sent a couple of docs prior to visit.
I didn't need a test drive as the vehicle I was buying we have on work fleets anyway.
42 minutes from in showroom to payment and out with confirmation of order for a car of £xx, with £2k discount as they didn't realise my trade in had a rare option only 5% of those cars had that increased it's resale (neither did I so had nowt been said I'd have been none the wiser).
Not going to say the value, but they say that houses are the most expensive item you look at in the least time. Well I reckon our house was £xxx and we spent about six hours in total looking at it on three visits, so in terms of cash sppaffed / minute this car beats it.

Not bad going!
I once had a call from a mate, while I was still asleep on a day off.
He said he’d heard one side of a call describing a car, possibly for sale.
I asked him to get the number of the fella looking to sell.
I called him chatted briefly and agreed to buy it immediately.
All under 10mins, before I even got out of bed
I wasn’t even looking to buy a car at the time either!
However, it did take a while longer to complete, as we were 500 miles apart!

Diesel manual version of a Merc model - my buying garage had someone wanting to pay the odds. When I got the car 4 years ago I waited 5 months for a build slot (as that is what the wife wanted in terms of car - then she never sodding drove the thing in the end as she didn't like the seats)!

Six hours?! We spent about 20 minutes in each of the pair we've bought beforehand.A lot of these deals don’t involve the car being acquired...
This weekend, drove to a driveway dealer in the girlfriends car, have a walk around the car she was looking to buy. 15 minute test drive. 5 minute discussion about part exchange. Deal done, paperwork done.
1hr 10 mins from arriving in a Fiesta and leaving in a Mini.
Not bad going really.

My experience is it seems to be the salesman who wants to spend hours dragging out the whole process, dithering about the price (including the "need to run it past my manager" dance), showing me videos of cars having coatings applied, and trying to sell me finance and extras even when I've said from the outset I'm not interested.
Think my quickest sits at around 3 hours
