No dress code - you can drive there, it's a roundabout route to get there - get a decent map and be prepared to get lost 
It's a popular location...I've only been to the bar next door to watch the cars, the restaurant gets booked out pretty early on....I think there are coaches that will take you down there, although I haven't a clue where they pickup I'm afraid...

No need to book in my experience. You have a choice of both a regular French affair and a Chinese next door. For the race weekend they trim the menu back but lets face it none of us are really after the full gastronomic tour de force are we!
As for directions I will get my cousin to post some up tomorrow as he has a Blood Hound like ability to find the place and can do it in the dark after plenty of Kronny, not driving of course!
In recent years the organisers have seen fit to increase the barricades and generally try to stop you from seeing any part of the track from the restaurants. Do not be deterred the dedicated will still manage to get a good view whilst clinging to a tree or a side of a building
Last year one of our crew got arrested by the French BIB for hanging over the fence by the track to get a good view, unfortunately he was equipped with full diplomatic immunity and sent Jean Claude packing in two minutes flat. Great stuff.

Then for directions to Les Hunaudieres and the Shanghai des 24 Hueres, head South East on the N142 (Route du Mans) running parallel to the Mulsanne Straight. Take one of the right turnings heading towards the circuit and you will enter the network of one way roads. The restaurant will be temporarily signposted and there will be plenty of folk willing to direct you. Eventually you will end up in a field at the back of the restaurant where you can park for free. I've never attempted to get there on foot!

You used to have to look for a hand written sign saying 'Genissel' for the correct turning off the N142. Its the name of the proprietor of the French restaurant. Actually, its more of a truck stop than a restaurant.
The gendarmes might try to stop you going but just tell them you're eating there and they'll let you through. Well they used to anyway, but Le Mans changes every year these days...

I think I went here on the Friday afternoon last year. Is this the place which is basically a pub with a chinese next door about halfway down the Mulsanne (on the left walking from Tetra Rouge to Mulsanne village)?
I walked down the Mulsanne and entered from the road since the circuit was still open to the public. I assumed it was all shut up once they closed the circuit. Didn't see any other entrances.

From Houx / Houx Annexe - Head out towards Tetre Rouge under circuit - turn right at end of road and then take first right, left at roundabout and then right at T-junction and right again at barrier - there's no camping these days so park up in the field and make your way through the woods for an unforgettable experience.
From all other camp sites - Go past museum under flyover take first right - right at T-junction onto N183 - you have to go left as this is Tetre Rouge and then take immediate right down steep filter road, turn left at bottom, turn right at end of road and first right, left at roundabout and then right at T-junction and right again at barrier.

hi steve .... we have 72 booked in next door .... perhaps we should pay you a visit, and vice versa ?
(mind you, we have to be out for 4am due to bus drivers' hours)
