For those of us that don't subscribe to the FT what does it actually say?

In view of the location and size of Sark I would be more surprised if it had the cheapest electricity.

Apparently the Sark price has hit a level only billionaires can afford (as per the url!),

The elec co brings in diesel from Guernsey.

A Tesla will do roughly 3 miles per kWh, so more like 30p/mile.

EDIT: Oh, did you include the cost of the ferry ticket to the Supercharger? smile

No cars on Sark.

Regulators forced Sark Electricity to lower prices to be below costs. Didn't work out well.

Really? Are all the motorways just empty? How do people commute to downtown Sarkopolis?

I think the Sark Stock Exchange has had to close because no one could afford to run the screens for more than 30 mins at a time.

I hear people keep warm by burning £20 noted and Unicorn tears on open fires. It's desperate.

The islands only 1.5 miles long by 1 mile wide, soi 3 miles of range is plenty!

(the only "car" on the island was an engineless citroen 2CV, imported back 1982 to use as a camera car when filming the "Mr Pye" TV series, because the 2CVs legendary soft suspension made a perfect camera platform, unlike the unsprung tractors and horse draw carts the island had, and that 2cv was pulled along by a horse or a tractor! The car sat rotting behind the islands post office iirc, until it was eventually exported to Guernsey and scrapped a number of years later)

The electric co shareholders reportedly include Gordon Brown's family.

Fancy that.
