I run three holiday lets and I'd quite like to welcome new guests with a personalised 'splash screen' on their TV when they arrive, like some hotels do (if this can be done cost-effectively!). Does anyone know how I can easily do this without a dedicated android/raspberry pi or similar connected to the back of each telly, as that's the only way I can think of doing it...

For background info, we currently run Freesat down from a single satellite dish to each of the TVs, which have their own satellite decoder boxes.

Any helpful suggestions welcomed!

If the TVs have a USB socket for memory sticks. Plug one in and show your custom jpg file.
Only thing is the tv might go into standby, it probably wouldnt stay on for ever.
Or plug a chromecast into the back of each tv.
Your main problem will be switching sources

As an alternative, have you considered some of those cheap digital photo frames which you can leave plugged into a prominent position for your guests to see on the day of arrival?

There are 'hotel' TVs available that can do this, Samsung make them as do others. They can also have he menus locked so they cannot be messed around with, you can set max volumes and choose which channel they come on with etc.
