I have x 2 Sony KDL48W705C and I can't get BBC iPlayer to work through either. Both connect via wireless, Netflix / Amazon prime work fine. Have deleted apps, preformed master reset, unplugged etc. Page comes up but just gets stuck on "loading" page.

Don't really use it much and can't remember the last time I did but Mrs Thomo wants to watch Strictly and I'm getting grief...

Cheers

This happened on my 3 month old Panasonic TV with Netflix a few years back.

I use a 25 quid roku express now. Much better although not as user friendly in terms changing input on the amp etc

No guarantee.

I had one disk player flag up a message before it went some years ago.

Thanks - they are on the list of compatible devices. I think I last used it circa 6 weeks ago with no issue.

Software update for the TV installed recently?

Apart from that try to see if others with the same model have the issue. As far as I can go.

Not 100% sure when it was last done but worth another check.

Thanks

Chap, i have a Sony TV, its only a year old or so but i found the internal apps useless and slow.

I now use a £40.00 amazon fire stick (think we paid £25 for it when they had a deal on) and just access netflix, iplayer, amazon prime etc through this...not ideal, but a work around maybe?

Either the BBC or Sony will have stopped supporting it. Happens on all “Smart” TVs after a while.

Much better off with a fire stick or Roku or similar

Will bite the bullet and go this way if necessary

See if there's anything on Sony's own community: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/tv-home-cinema/ct-...

There's also this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/latest-news/con... , the timescales of which don't sound too hopeful.

OP, do you use Amazon Prime Video on your Sony TV? I received a discount code for £20 off a firestick from Amazon as official support for Prime on my Sony TV was coming to an end. A cheap way of getting a firestick.

I got a Sony Android Smart TV a couple of weeks ago.

After many years of a dumb Pansonic Plasma I'm finding it 'interesting'! My wife pretends she can't use it. I'm 50/50 about taking it back, but not sure I can be bothered to choose another one.

Yes I do and thanks for the heads up - not sure I have seen an offer but will look into it

I install a lot of TVs at work and see this all the time
Firestick Roku Apple TV are the most reliable ways to stream
When the maker stops making the TV the support pretty soon dies off.

Probably help if the feds make them support for a minimum number of years.

I just use the Apple TV now, the iPlayer app on mine was borked from day 1 and never fixed. The rest of the apps work very well and still do some years later.
