Sega Mega Drive Mini - anyone ordered/bought one?
Discussion
Released today.
I never really played the Mega Drive, it was either NES or SNES but this was my wife's console of choice when growing up so I've bought one (for her
)
Decent selection of games and reviews are v favourable.
Shame they decided to go for the original 3 button controller especially given they've released this with Street Fighter. S'pose I'll have to do my Street Fighting on the SNES mini (or buy 6 button pads).
To be this good takes SEGA.

I should have one delivered today. Will look great with the mini NES, SNES and Playstation classic gathering dust under the TV
I do like the small form factor, the feel of original pads and the plug and play nature of these mini consoles so ill keep collecting them if they are reasonable priced. There's a 'mini' PC Engine due out next year https://www.amazon.co.uk/Konami-PC-Engine-CoreGraf...

Not just me then.
Played the SNES Mini twice, the NES Mini once but that's about it. I notice the prices of these are quite strong on Amazon.
The thing that gets most use tbh is my N64. Proper quality gaming. Would buy an N64 Mini if they made one...please Nintendo

I gather the Japanese megadrive mini comes with the six button controller.
I'm using wii pro controllers on the snes mini for megadrive games so no issues with buttons there.
N64 games on the snes mini are mostly ok when using the wii pro controllers.
Would be interesting to see if sega have left the door open for modding!

Tempting!
Give me a quick run down -
The 40 games are pre loaded?
Is there an online store to download more?
Will the machine take the original ‘cassettes’?
Will the machine take the original controllers?
I have an original mega drive and a stack of games in the loft. I never use that, I’d probably never use this, but I kind of need it

Got mine today as a treat after clearing out a ton of never to be used GW and Forge world stuff.
Put a chunk into savings so was an easy sell to the wife!
Played sonic 1 and 2 and a bit of ecco (swore...a LOT!)
Does anyone else feel in sonic the delay between pressing a button to jump and jumping is a noticeable delay, was getting annoying.
This was a thing in the emulation and cheaper sega 'retro' consoles but the mini wasnt supposed to have this issue as was official and was played about with to stop this.

Raspberry Pi with Retropie installed= Ability to run all consoles up to PlayStation (not N64 very well) with as many ROM files as you can fit on the micro SD card of choice.
Can even put in a mini Megadrive case:
