V90 Inscription

Well after pretty much 2 years to the day I parted with my V60 Polestar and got a new Volvo.

Rock hard suspension and woeful fuel economy on the fast swede finally became a bit sore for me and I have opted for some economy and comfort. Living in central London fuel economy was never going to be great in the P* but 17k miles at 17mpg was getting a bit testing.

Picked up the V90 inscription yesterday and it’s lovely, comfortable economical and has all the toys including pilot assist, Volvos self steer kind of thing that works brilliantly with the adaptive cruise !

It’s massive mind ! Really massive !

Love these. Looks like it has a good amount of tyre sidewall too so should ride well.

I think these are one of the best looking cars on sale today. For me, the proportions are so right.

Looking forward to updates on what this is like day-to-day. Love a big estate!

Had a few of these as hire cars. Great for soaking up the miles on the motorway.

Agree with above, every time I see one or an S90, they always turn my head.

It’s comofrtable, really comfortable, it’s the 2.0 D4, so far the first couple of hundred miles have all been within the A406 and it’s managed 40.1 mpg so far so I’m happy with that.

The boot with the seats down is huge I doubt I’ll ever need the extra litre space that the competition has to offer.

The adaptive cruise is awesome, couple that with the pilot assist should make a 300 mile trip up north to see the parents a breeze

The screen and displays are fine for me but not as slick as merc or Audi, but then a similar spec German at this age and price point would have been another 5 - 7 grand more to buy

Had one of these for just over a year and love it. Its a massive barge which can mean getting through tight spaces is fun.

The fuel economy for us is either extreme. Either 20mpg dropping the little one off at nursery (up a big hill, you can't beat physics when you weight 1800kg) or 55+mpg on the motorway.

The sat nav also has a tendancy to crash. Would probably get another when our insanely cheap lease expires.

I absolutely love my MY12 S80. I'd like an S90... but they're quite expensive and I cant justify it.

They really are well put together... the only thing I dont like is the lack of 5cyl engines nowadays...

I'm surprised by that economy. My S80 has the twin turbo 2.4 D5 engine and 6sp auto and returns an average of 44mpg.

Eta: Just realised you said all your driving has been WITHIN the A406... in which case 40.1 is very respectable. The TT 5pot in London traffic would be woeful. I must learn read things properly before posting drivel... crack on

The rear styling of the estate is so much better than the saloon.

I can’t help but feel that Volvo could be destined for greatness with a slightly better engine.

We have an Xc90 petrol and whist powerful it’s also quite thrashy. It takes away the feel good factor of the rest of the car

On a bad traffic day my Polestar would do 10mpg so anything above 20 is a bonus for 40 is something I haven’t experienced for many many years now
